Gerard is the pioneer in stone-coated steel
roofing.
In the early 50's a New
Zealand industrialist visited England and couldn't help but notice how well
WWII corrugated steel-roof hangers had survived the punishing British climate.
He went back home and developed a roofing tile pressed from galvanized steel,
then coated it with a layer of Bitumen and crushed rock granules. It was well
received. In 1971 Gerard began manufacturing a re-engineered stone-coated steel
roof panel, with improved adhesives and stylish designs. Their innovations on a
good idea have helped build an industry.
Gerard
roofing products combine the toughness of steel with the natural beauty and
durability of earth-stone granules to create the ultimate roofing
system.
Gerard roofs are durable and
have withstood hurricanes, earth-quakes, tornados, hail storms, blizzards,
resisted against fires... yet remain looking like new.

Gerard has assembled a
lightweight, interlocking roof system that won't burn, break, blow off, crack
or curl... offering a combination of properties that you just can't get with
other products.
Whether you prefer a
Mediterranean-tile profile or the hand-split look of shake, the Gerard roof
adds a distinctive touch of class to a wide range of architectural styles. And
with several stone-coated colors and blends to choose from, your Gerard roof
will project a sense of quality and enhanced value that will remain...
Beautiful Under Any Condition.
Gerard Shake gives you the
sturdy, traditional look of hand-split wood of shake in 6 rich colors.
Gerard has taken stone-coated
steel technology and has formed it to emulates the rugged look of han-split
shake. Stonewood Shake provides all of the benefits of a wood shake roof, but
without the fire hazard. In addition, Stonewood Shake does not absorb water and
resists degradation by rotting. his is an important feature in cold climates
where freeze/thaw cycles crack and degrade the wood. Also, because of its
interlocking design, Stonewood Shake resists ice damming and is hail resistant.
Energy efficiency is yet
another advantage of Gerard roofing products. When installed over existing
shake roof, or asphalt shingle roof, the Gerard roof system creates a dead
air-space that acts to insulate the roof from the ceiling in extreme heat or
cold. Additional thermal insulators can be applied to this air space to provide
even greater energy savings.
Gerard Tile gives you
Mediterranean color and style in 12 stone-coated tiles.

 Beneath the rich,
Mediterranean look of Capistrano Tile resides a heart of steel. A strong,
26-gauge metal armor that has been coated with Zincalume corrosion inhibitors,
epoxy primers and other protective layers to provide a permanent roof product
that will not crack, break or curl.

A thick coating of ceramic,
fired earth-stone granules are then applied to give lasting beauty that
tenaciously resists the harmful effects of sun, wind, rain, hail and snow.
Known as stone-coated steel roofing, the resulting technology has brought forth
a product that wears like steel, but yet provides the versatile color and
texture of the natural wonders around us.
The practical beauty of
Capistrano Tile is that it emulates the rich look without the extreme weight of
of conventional tile. At just 1.5 pounds per square foot, Capistrano Tile is up
to eight times lighter than clay or concrete tile, and four to five times
lighter that lightweight concrete and fiber-cement products. In addition, the
interlocking features of Capistrano Tile actually improves the rigidity of the
building and its resistance to wind and earthquake induced forces.
